This does not come naturally for many people, but self confidence can be built and developed over a period of time by achieving small goals which will lead to achieving larger goals in our well-structured program. As the student’s skills improve, they realize that they are capable of more than they thought, and this boosts both their self image and self esteem. Through Taekwondo training, they will learn to carry themselves assertively, speak up for themselves, and resist peer pressure.
Taekwondo students take great pride in their accomplishments and become confident about their ability to face any challenge.
When speed and power developed through Taekwondo training are used in a self-defense situation, the results can be incredible. YYC Taekwondo will train students to use their enhanced physical strengths while learning to defend themselves against a much larger opponent. Knowing they can defend themselves will boost their confidence which is usually enough to deter potential attackers. Learn how to gain confidence and defend yourself.
Build perseverance by facing obstacles and overcoming them. When faced with challenges, students will learn to persevere in the structure of our class, filled with encouragement, without giving up, and with a strong belief that they can overcome them.
The principles of Taekwondo techniques are based on the design of the human body. For power, the body requires the larger, more powerful muscles of the torso. For speed of the techniques, the fast, agile muscles of the arms and legs need to be developed. As students progress in Taekwondo, they learn to combine this speed and power, and to focus all of their body’s strength into a small, hard striking surface like the edge of the hand or the heel of a foot.
Build a habit of concentration. YYC Taekwondo offers students a fun and focused learning environment to help them understand the benefits and power of concentration which students will apply to school, work, and home.
Treating others as you want to be treated is one of the core principles of the martial arts. During training, students learn to try their best to respect teachers, instructors as well as their parents and classmates. They also learn the importance of taking turns, cooperating with a partner, and following instructions.

“My little guy enjoyed it so much that we signed up
my middle daughter, then my oldest daughter,
and now my wife and I are doing it too!
It’s as entertaining to watch as it is to participate.
The kids always
have smiles on their faces. Loads of fun!”

My son was so shy and lacked self confidence. Master Park has opened him up and has been an amazing encouragement. They are so flexible here too. If you miss a class they can arrange to have a make up class almost any other day. Nothing but great things with these classes.
